Spring is here!

Spring must be here, for the flowers are blooming and today is the Holy Day of Vuzhí. She has arisen from the Underworld and is now bringing life back to our world.

Hurrah!

Apples vs. Grapefruit; Washington vs. Texas

In Washington, apples and grapefruits are often the same size.

In Texas, grapefruits usually outweighed the tiny apples by a ratio of 4:1.

A Walk at Alki

Sunday evening, we drove over to West Seattle and took a walk to Alki and back for dinner, three miles each way.

4 - Columbia Tower Piers

This pier is apparently being worked on. Have a look at my photo from a year ago and compare with a similar angle from this week.

We missed the sunset proper before we turned Duwamish Head, but we caught plenty of orange sky.

7 - Alki Beach Sunset

9 - Alki Avenue Sunset
15 - Alki Sidewalk
Oh wait. That last photo is from a year ago. . .

After dinner, we trekked back to the car in the dark.

A few more photos are on flickr.

Whoops!

On the calendars I gave out for Christmas, I just noticed that Mardi Gras is listed next Wednesday!!

I must've carried it over from 2009, when it was the 24th. For whatever reason, it slipped my notice when I went through the holidays for this year.

Therefore, I hereby issue a recall notice for all 2010-model calendars designed by me. . . Or you can just cross out "Mardi Gras" from next week yourself.

Happy Holidays!

'Tis the holiday season!

Yesterday we celebrated the Chinese New Year; today is Valentine's Day, and tomorrow I get Presidents' Day off work. It's a good thing I don't plan to celebrate Mardi Gras, 'casue I don't think I'd have the energy. Wedensday is also the Holy Day of Nazhoro, but that's celebrated by being alone, so I think I could manage it.

When we awoke yesterday, it was already after midnight in China, but we caught the tail end of CCTV's broadcast live. We've now seen portions of the same mega spectacular variety show special twice since. Yesterday lunch we went with Chunlin's parents and sister (and her boyfriend) to the Snoqualmie casino buffet (Chunlin's sister had a debit/gift/rewards card to spend). Then an hour or two at the slot machines. Some dollars go faster than others. The panda slot can give you a heart attack. The Gift from the Gods slot makes a lot of noise and gives you pennies back constantly so your money lasts longer.

Chunlin and I exchanged Valentine's gifts yesterday, but then we went to the store today to exchange one again. . .

This morning, I cooked breakfast. Potstickers and scrambled eggs, together in the pan with some olives and hot sauce. You gotta eat jiao zi for New Year's!

Néhété's Cleaning the House

Plague of Néhété, what's that smell?!

Oh, it is Néhété. Sorry, sir.

I hope you all have a pestilence-free Holy Day of Néhété!

Greetings from Anchorage!

It's cold here, lots of snow on the ground, but it's sunny . . . or at least it was.

I spent most of the day inside a client's building, where it was nice and warm.

Since before noon, it's felt like the sun was about to set. Welcome to the upper latitudes!

More Work

I'm getting busy at work again. I now have to start keeping a to-do list and I no longer have time for blogging.

Oh wait.
