This Month's Photo of Chunlin

2 - Chunlin Wahkeena Creek

I put my new calendar upon my cubicle wall and this is the photo for January. My cutie!

After Thanksgiving a year and more ago, we took a drive down to Oregon to start US 97 across Washington. In the gorge, we stopped near Multnomah Falls, but went to Wahkeena Falls instead. This is from that short hike.

Bonus photo, from the cover of my calendar:

Jeopardy! Three-way Tie

In Alex Trebek's second episode as the host of Jeopardy!, all three contestants missed the Final Jeopardy! question and the game ended in a 0-0-0 tie.

The Final Jeopardy! answer was: "Calendar date with which the 20th century began."

All three contestants bet all their money and gave the same question: "What is January 1, 1900?"

Alex: Oh, boy. What... I'm at a loss for words in a situation like this. [whistles] Hey folks, easy come, easy go. Because all of our contestants wound up with nothing, we have consolation prizes for each of them. Tomorrow on Jeopardy!, we'll be bringing in three new players to play the game...

Voices offstage: The answer!

Alex: You mean, "What is the question?" The question is "What is January 1, 1901?"

How could they all miss that? So simple and basic...

Summer's Gone

Where, oh where has my summer gone?
It's autumn now, or so it seems.

Where, oh where has my summer gone?
Winter is just around the corner.

Where, oh where has my summer gone?
Little went as planned.

Where, oh where has my summer gone?
There's always next year...

Happy Solstice!

Summer is finally here. Can't you tell? I know Seattle still has cold, gray skies and the weatherman is calling the month Junuary, but it's summer now!

Huzzah!

National Jet-Lag Day Is Coming!

I glance at my calendar, and what do I see upon the 14th?

"Daylight Savings Begins"!!!

Why, oh Imperial Overlords, why?? Why must you torture us like so?

Whoops!

On the calendars I gave out for Christmas, I just noticed that Mardi Gras is listed next Wednesday!!

I must've carried it over from 2009, when it was the 24th. For whatever reason, it slipped my notice when I went through the holidays for this year.

Therefore, I hereby issue a recall notice for all 2010-model calendars designed by me. . . Or you can just cross out "Mardi Gras" from next week yourself.

I hope you have a good one!

Why Is It So Dark in the Evening?

Because today's the Autumnal Equinox, at 2:20 p.m. PDT more or less.

At least it's spring down south, right?

It was after we'd driven Highways 6 and 7 in one day, but then we weren't quite ready to return home. So we stopped at Southcenter. Frappacino?

This Month's Photo of Chunlin

Last year, when we went to drive Highway 8 (between Aberdeen and Olympia), we spent the night in Ocean Shores. 'Twas a typical gray spring day at the beach, but we had fun.

So here's my calendar's photo this month of Chunlin (and me!):
