Towel Day
I know where my towel is. It's on the towel rack in my bathroom...
Royal decrees; interesting things I find; photographs I've taken; random thoughts on politics and culture as I know 'em; holidays both real and imaginary; and a fantasy novel page-by-page. "I hate hippies." -- Alicia Spanhake, Honorary Baroness of Síporozorígí |

Today's the Feast of Pétíso, God of Death.
Eat, drink, and be merry, for the world will soon be reborn!
Rékaré is the strongest, most skilled, most loyal, and most loving god in the universe. May He always protect us!
RIMMER: You can scoff, Lister. That's nothing new. They laughed at
Galileo. They laughed at Edison. They laughed at Columbo.
LISTER: Who's Columbo?
RIMMER: The man with the dirty mac who discovered America.

Today is the four-year anniversary of when Chunlin and I met.
'Twas a Friday evening at the Mountaineers' Mount Baker Lodge. We only spoke briefly, but she certainly caught my eye.
The next day I was talked into leading a hike, but the hike I chose seemed too difficult to Chunlin and the other women. (Chunlin and I took that hike, Ptarmigan Ridge, a year ago, so she certainly could have done it earlier.) So I spent most of that Saturday with four other men.
Saturday afternoon and evening, though, Chunlin and I had plenty of time to get to know each other.
By Sunday morning, we were setting off on a hike, just the two of us, and Chunlin told her carpool's driver that she had arranged other transportation home.
So now it's just about time to head north to Mt Baker once again...
Happy anniversary, Honey!
I hope you're having a joyous Feast of Hívo today. Drink up!
May He bring me swift travel tomorrow, for I'm going on a business trip to Pittsburgh.
Yay, Pittsburgh. Three days in Pittsburgh.
They like Hívo's beer there, don't they?
Three years ago today, Chunlin and I were wed.
Ah, good times.
I feel like we've always been together, and yet the three years have flown past.
I love you, Chunlin!

Summer is finally here. Can't you tell? I know Seattle still has cold, gray skies and the weatherman is calling the month Junuary, but it's summer now!
Huzzah!
Drink up! Have some beer! Eat your fill! Today is the Holy Day of Vasataté, which means it's party time under the ocean waves.
Hopefully today the Brewmaster of the Deep won't have any fights with His lovely wife, Rénavahalasíhí, because we all want calm seas when we honor Him. But if He does get riled up, just give Him a horse and I'm sure He'll calm down.
Say "hi" to any passing seagulls, for they are Vasataté's eyes upon the shore.
We sent some more money to our Imperial Overlords this morning, along with a lot of bureaucratic paperwork (electronic).
Yay.
At least we didn't need a refund. We're pretty consistent about that.

Today is the Holy Day of Rézhíní, Goddess of Plants, for which we can all be thankful.
It is an unfortunate synchronicity, however, that today is also April Fools Day, for as I'm sure you're all aware, the lovely goddess Rézhíní was killed when Zhíanoso tricked Her brother into shooting Her with an arrow. "April fools! You're dead!"
Thankfully, She shall rise again. Just like Her plants.

May your Holy Day of Zhaké be glorious and grand! May He forever protect and guide us, for He is the wisest and strongest god of all.
The blossoms drift from the trees on Hérazha's breeze, for today is Her Holy Day.
Hérazha rides Her horses across the sky and through time itself, but She always will be around for Her day, today, so we can all bask in Her beauty and heed Her call to fight the demons of darkness.
Fight for light! Ride the wind! Glory be to Hérazha!
I glance at my calendar, and what do I see upon the 14th?
"Daylight Savings Begins"!!!
Why, oh Imperial Overlords, why?? Why must you torture us like so?

Spring must be here, for the flowers are blooming and today is the Holy Day of Vuzhí. She has arisen from the Underworld and is now bringing life back to our world.
Hurrah!
