Do we really need two cars?
A lot of the houses in areas we'd like to move to only have one-car garages.
Our second car spends most days unused at home.
We could probably get by with just one car.

Right! As long as one or both of you can get to work by bus. We had one car and I rode a bike to work for 7 years (1969-76). Except don't you have a youngster who might want a car soon?
