Go Purple Eagles!

Tommorrow begins the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament, in the saddest game of all. It's the play-in game before the "big dance" really starts on Thursday.

Why does this game exist? Well, way back in the late '90s, some schools in the WAC split off to form the Mountain West Conference, thus adding one more automatic conference-champion berth to the tournament (starting in 2001). The big-money schools didn't like the possibility that they'd lose an at-large bid just so both BYU and Nevada could compete, so they forced the organizers to bump the tournament from 64 teams to 65.

Medium-sized schools get snobby, big schools get greedy, and little schools get hurt. Sad, sad, sad.

But nevertheless, I predict the Niagara Purple Eagles will beat the Florida A&M Rattlers. Go Purple Eagles!
