Most of the campsites at Bear Lake were still covered in snow, so we really didn't have much choice in stopping at Dorothy. But we did go up to Bear as a dayhike Saturday. Went swimming in both lakes. Very refreshing.

Some of those are the best pics you've taken.

Thanks!!

If it's sunny and 80 degrees, the water is never too cold to go swimming. ... You just can't stay in the water very long before extremities start going numb (not kidding!).

Someplace I've got a photo of Soto swimming in a small lake that still had ice floating against the far shore. Refreshing is an understatement!

Brave lad . . . if I put my feet in and start to lose feeling in about a minute, there is NO WAY the rest of the body could be convinced to follow!!

Yes, these pictures are excellent! Like the one showing the stones under the water & the island picture.

Bear Lake still had snow down to the lake. No ice floating like at Gem Lake or Peggy's Pond. . .

I posted a whole bunch more photos at my Flickr site, if you want to take a look.

The first one is classic alpine lake scenery in the mountains of Washington State. Nothing like it in Texas. Reminds me of a New Mexico and Colorado bumper sticker: "If God had wanted Texans to ski, He'd have given them mountains." :)

sadly, that is so very true! :(
