Feb 8 morning
It's been a lovely morning. We got up a bit early and drove back south 25 km or so to Kerosene Creek, a hot-water creek that's free to the public. We had the place to ourselves. ... Relaxing. We took our swimsuits off after a while. Much nicer. Tarzan and Eve in the jungle.
Back on the road to the other side of Rotorua to roll down a hill in a big plastic bubble.
(Chunlin's photo above)
I've now gone zorbing. Chunlin, no. Hill looks bigger from top than bottom. Strap in, push off, somersault, somersault, sideways, roll roll roll, and stop hanging face down. The beginning and end were the best.
We're now down the road in Cambridge for lunch. Parked in front of a restaurant. A waitress closed the front door. We get out and notice smoke coming out an upper level opening -- window? vent? I joke the building's on fire. Then the fire department alarm starts wailing over the city. I moved the car across the street on Chunlin's suggestion. People gather. We walk down the street. First one, then another truck drive by, sirens and horns going wild. Now we're eating pizza and a sandwich. The fire's probabl out by now. Just a bit of excitement in lazy old Cambridge.
