Wonderful Book; Wonderful Title
Now here's a must-read, award-winning book: The Stray Shopping Carts of Eastern North America: A Guide to Field Identification. It has vivid color photographs. A reviewer on Amazon says it's "one of the most complete and well thought-out works I have ever encountered." Sounds like the perfect read!
But what is the award it won? The Diagram Prize for oddest book title of the year.
Yup. It won an award from people who hadn't even read the book. Talk about judging a book by its cover.
Second place was the slightly more serious Tattooed Mountain Women and Spoon Boxes of Daghestan, while third place went to the progressive nihilistic (and dangerously serious) Better Never to Have Been: The Harm of Coming into Existence.
