Merry Christmas!

Yesterday was a fairly bad day for me, what with the pain from a blister on my heel, the annoyance of idiot salespeople, the aggrevation of inexplicable traffic jams and the street layout in Bellevue, the hassle of moving in to my new office, typical Monday madness, and a general malaise that settled in over the weekend.

But I made that all disappear in an instant by saying "Merry Christmas!" to a stranger. The weight lifted from my shoulders; I floated free of all that misery. I smiled.

Sounds like you caught a case of Post-Seattle-Snowstorm depression. A common malady when the world switches from pretty and white back to dreary gray.

You are lucky the person was not offended by your Christmas greeting. I heard that some school had to take down their "Holiday Giving Tree" yesterday because someone was offended by a fir tree covered with gift idea cards.

I don't think he was offended by the religious overtones of the comment, but the fact that he was a panhandler to whom I didn't give money as I walked by probably goes a distance to explain his reply of "F*** you." And yes, that made me smile.
